Heritage Homes of the Carolinas is a local custom home builder based in Burlington, North Carolina. Our goal is to build you a high-quality home, on time and under budget, resulting in a satisfied customer. We are a full-service builder and keep all financing in-house. This means we have the freedom and ability to truly cater to the needs of our clients.
We strive to respond to all inquiries the day of, and shortly after invite you to our offices/showroom in Burlington. Nathan Sawyer, our owner, will personally meet with you and get things going. From start of construction, homes are completed within 6-8 months. Sometimes throughout the process, due to several variables, a change order may be needed. We do our best to accommodate changes and charge no additional fees.
Nathan Sawyer has been building in the Piedmont Triad since 2007 and over the years has developed professional relations throughout the industry. Because of this, we have become well known as builders who prioritize quality. Additionally, Nathan is both a developer and builder which adds some unique experience and qualifications to help our customers find what they want.
Lastly, after meeting with you, as potential clients, we encourage you to talk to other builders. We know how important it is for you to be confident in your builder and sometimes it takes speaking to several builders to find the best fit. About 90% of the time, potential clients come back to us to begin the process of building their dream home.

Hello! I’m Nathan Sawyer, the owner of Heritage Homes of the Carolinas. I’m an experienced builder and developer. When I was 17 years old, I had a summer job with a custom home builder and have been in the industry ever since. I am originally from Southern California but moved to Raleigh/Cary area with my family at age 11. I built homes in the Raleigh area for nearly 10 years before moving to Burlington in 2007, this shifted my building to the Piedmont Triad area. Because of this, I have great professional relationships throughout the area with numerous others in the industry. Not too surprisingly, I find inspiration from HGTV. I also find inspiration when I am out at building sites, I look at the surrounding homes and take pictures of them. I want the homes I build to complement the already existing homes.
As a builder, my goal is to make your dream a reality: a quality home, on time, and under budget. I keep my expectations high so we can build a home of the highest quality for you. The whole purpose of buying and building a home is to get what you want, not something off the shelf. I personally meet with every client and listen to your wants and needs. We’ll work through the process and stay in close communication throughout. Each home is unique, each client is unique, and each experience is unique. This is what I love about building custom homes.
I currently sit on the Board of Directors as President of the Alamance/Caswell Home Builder Association. This allows me to stay involved with both local and national builders. On occasion, it’s necessary for me to speak at City Councils either for or against proposed legislation. Outside of work, I enjoy being a leader in my local troop for Boy Scouts of America.
We serve the Piedmont Triad, building in Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Caswell, and Randolph counties. We build on lots we own or property of the clients choosing. Nathan Sawyer, the owner, says, “We pride ourselves on being able to build your dream.”
